I purchased the 1810T from Amazon. Upon arrival I performed the initial setup and noticed that the included battery wasn't charging. After reviewing the Acer website for possible solutions, I contacted Acer technical support. The phone number was not easy to find - and I wasted some time with email discussions. Once in contact with tech support via the phone, Acer agreed to send me a new battery which arrived within a few days. The replacement battery fixed the problem. (they required a credit card number, but promised not to charge it as long as I returned the original battery in the pre-paid box they supplied).
The laptop runs all my software relatively swiftly, and I've encountered no difficulties. The webcam is mediocre in quality but is OK video chatting.
The screen is bright and sharp and the battery life so far is very good. I purchased this laptop over a standard netbook because it has Windows 7 Home Premium, as opposed to Windows 7 starter. The RAM is upgradeable and the battery life is excellent.
The trackpad supports multi-gesture which is a nice feature, however you have to be careful not to accidentally brush it with your fingers in order to avoid unexpected behavior. The keyboard is relatively large and after some practice is relatively easy to type on.
I had to uninstall a fair amount of nuisance software and clean-up the desktop, but nothing out of the ordinary.
I would recommend this laptop and give credit to Acer technical support for quickly replacing the defective battery.Get more detail about Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810T-8638 11.6-Inch HD Display Black Laptop - Over 8 Hours of Battery Life.
